Baby's first gamejam
I just uploaded my first GMTK GameJam project :D
and it was so fun! a lot of stress and a lot of work but fun. This is the biggest game I have made so far (a puny 7mb) and it genuinely was not nearly as difficult as I thought. I think my vision was so clear of what I wanted to create that every step flowed nicely.
I knew from the get go I wanted to make a "time loop" type of game where you are stuck in a situation and you have to try new things to get out. But, usually they are dialogue heavy and I did not want to submit a visual novel to a gamejam.
I have always been fascinated by MKUltra and Unit 731 so its not surprising I went for that theme. But, I obviously wanted to keep it lighthearted.
Thinking about the theme, I think my game fits quite well. The loop you are trying to get out of is being knocked out by the lab staff and military officers. Every time you wake up again you hopefully have some more information about how best to deal with the other characters and what is needed to escape.
Overall, I am very happy :) There are a couple little bits I would change if I had more time but I think it's an okay little game anyway. I certainly do not expect to get number 1 but either way I will be very happy with the experience and opportunity this gave me to better my skills and push my limits :)
(I thought the deadline was today so I was rushing really bad but turns out it's tomorrow...)
